Where people share and discover artistic talent and more
Where people share and discover artistic talent and more
"For many years, I dreamed about working in clay".
Finally in 2007, I got serious about this dream and am now happily immersed in clay. My work has evolved over time from wheel thrown vases and jars to sculptural and functional hand built work. It wasn’t until I discovered hand building in clay that I found what allowed me the most creativity and finally gave a voice to my work."
The hallmarks of my work are color; unusual exaggerated shapes, clean lines and texture. Functionality is secondary to the pleasure of the form... but, I am pleased when my work has a purpose as well.
My primary technique is slab construction which is high fired in either soda, salt or gas reduction kiln. Many of my wall hangings are saggar fired. ...
In 2013, I was a NICHE Award Finalist, a “Featured Artist” on the Arts Business Institute web page and in "I Love the 'Burg" and received a "Best of Houzz Award. Additionally my Blue Lotus was chosen for the Great Mother's Day Handmade Gift Guide. In 2012 & 2011, my work was selected for ABI's "Great Handmade Holiday Gift Guides", and I represented Florida in "50 States Fire Up: an American Clay Invitational" at the Margaret Harwell Art Museum in 2011.
Each year, I co-produce a regional show, For the Love of Clay, which has grown from a small show with four potters to well respected Juried show. Each year we showcase over 15 ceramic artists and attract a large regional audience.
