Terumi grew up in Tokyo, Japan, surrounded by the natural beauty of her native land and stimulated by the craft works of the local artisans. While still a young child, Terumi was encouraged by her parents to pursue her interest in music, dance, and the visual arts. Later, she moved to San Francisco, California to continue her education. She moved to East Point, Georgia over 30 years ago and raised her family.

Terumi started to paint again and took classes in printmaking, photography, quilting and writing. Terumi has participated in many art exhibitions, juried shows and National Black Art Festival. She
