Terumi grew up in Tokyo, Japan, surrounded by the natural beauty of her native land and stimulated by the craft works of the local artisans. While still a young child, Terumi was encouraged by her parents to pursue her interest in music, dance, and the visual arts. Later, she moved to San Francisco, California to continue her education. She moved to East Point, Georgia over 30 years ago and raised her family.
Terumi started to paint again and took classes in printmaking, photography, quilting and writing. Terumi has participated in many art exhibitions, juried shows and National Black Art Festival. she continues to explore art in as many different forms of media as possible, in her continued commitment to expressing harmony in visual, performing arts and ethnology
ethnology. Terumi was commissioned to present Art Quilts for Mr. & Mrs. Afemo Omilami, Congressman John Lewis and Mr. Truet Cathy of Chick-fil-A. Terumi’s works are shown at Galleries and Arts Centers.
She is a member of Americolor Opera Alliance and has performed in few productions as a soprano and a dancer. She is also serves as a house photographer, costume designer and a seamstress for AOA.
She currently serves as a Minister of Music at Perkerson Baptist church in Atlanta, Georgia. She plays Autoharp and Djembe Drum.
