Where people share and discover artistic talent and more

Jose Alvarez is a man who is serious about his work. Earning a degree in Radiological Science at New Jersey’s Passaic County Community College, Alvarez currently works as an MRI tech during the night shift. This, in turn, gives him time to devote to what he truly loves: acting. It also made for a natural fit when Alvarez appeared on the acclaimed USA series Royal Pains as, you guessed it, an MRI technician. But basically the night shift provides an even more advantage: while others are sleeping, Alvarez is strategizing his next move.

It seems to be paying off. Alvarez has mastered the skill of acting – not just in film, but also on stage and on TV commercials, and even voiceover projects. And lately, he’s been in a string of popular web series. Suffice it to say: this ‘man on a mission’ is anything but idle. After knowing Alvarez’s story, one is not surprised. A former student of the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York, following completion of the program, Alvarez relocated cross-country to attend the ...

Van Mar Academy School of Acting in California. The lessons learned at both institutions have led Alvarez to work alongside several Who’s Who’s Among Hollywood insiders such as: Sidney Lument, Armand Assanti and Nick Nolte (in Lument’s Q&A); Michael Caine (A Shock to the System); Tim Robbins (Jacob’s Ladder); and the cult classic Girlfight with Michelle Rodriguez. Alvarez has also appeared in several successful TV programs (The Sopranos, Third Watch, Law & Order: SVU) as well as stage performances (Godspell and The Importance of Being Ernest) and his singing and dancing abilities were met with a Perry Award nomination for Best Male Performance in a Musical for his star turn in Guys and Dolls.

Conder Express: Most recently, Alvarez portrayed a father whose daughter reveals her homosexuality, much to his chagrin, in the dramatic film Stills, directed by Sheyen Lee Benoit and scheduled for release in 2013. In Steps, he plays Antonio, a wise soul who befriends an alcoholic in hopes of helping him through his recovery. Steps is slated for a fall 2012 release. In the horror flick Sacred Game (available on NetFlix), under the direction of Bernardo Chilindron, Alvarez plays a duo role as Luis and Pito, in an attempt to survive while he is being hunted for flesh. And in the 2013 release of November Lies, directed by Shannon Lanier, Alvarez will be seen as a gambler at his wit’s end as he tries to recover from a whirlwind of debt. There are several other films and projects already slated for 2013 and 2014 for him. Jose Alvarez is a man on a serious mission. And from the looks of things that ‘mission’ is absolutely ‘possible’. Also in 2013, there’s Summer of 76 by Tom Koveleskie where he potrays a state trooper.
