Derrick B. Bryant (Benetez) was born in New Bern, NC. He has graduated from NC A&T State University with honors, with a degree in Design. Bryant was praised by some of his professors as being a "true gifted painter." He won first place in his undergraduate Senior art exhibit. 

Bryant has studied in his Masters in Illustration from The Academy of Arts in San Francisco, California. He has been acknowledged and published by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, View House Publishing, Sun Journal Newspaper, The Herald-Sun Newspaper, Hayti Heritage Center, Spotlight Magazine, Tribes Magazine, IBM, BET, Armacell, Kodak, City of Raleigh, NC, NBC My Carolina Today talk show. Bryant has done work for NBA player Jerry Stackhouse, Actress Rosario Dawson, Snoop Dogg and NBC My Carolina Today. Bryant was also an adjunct Instructor at two colleges in NC for five years. Currently residing in Atlanta, Bryant continues to show art work, Shoot Photography and create graphics for the Administrative Office of the Courts of Georgia,(Supreme Court). ...

He is experienced in all paint mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, gouache, inks and oils. "I like to enlighten my viewers, so when they view my art work a second time they are intrigued to see something different," says Bryant. Currently Bryant's subject matter are Silhouettes. Taking on a new birth of creativity, the series "Beauty of Nature" signifies a shift in consciousness to good and love.
